Sheriff’s Office Now Offers Online Scheduling for Concealed Handgun License

Delaware County, OHIO – July 15, 2014 – The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office has become one of only a few agencies statewide to offer citizens the convenience of online appointment scheduling for obtaining or renewing a concealed handgun license (CHL). The growth of applicants for CHL – both new and renewals – in the state of Ohio has tripled in the past three years.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office saw a 66% growth rate in the same time period (from 2011 to 2013).

“With the continuous growth, we’ve been evaluating how to meet the demand while keeping costs low and without sacrificing customer service,” explains Russell Martin, Delaware County Sheriff. “Online scheduling allows citizens to go to our web site at their convenience and schedule an appointment within mere minutes.”

Due to the large volume of phone calls from citizens trying to schedule their appointment, this online scheduling system will streamline the appointment process, and citizens will receive immediate response. But appointments can still be made via a phone call.

Upon making the appointment online, citizens will get an e-mail confirmation, which will include a list of all materials that are required for the appointment (such as driver’s license, completed application, etc.). Also, a 24-hour advance notice reminder is texted and/or e-mailed.
