Delaware County, OH – February 18, 2014

Scott D. Thomas, 26, was arrested today on U.S. 23 in Delaware, after fleeing Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies. Thomas had a warrant for his arrest following the Saturday, Feb. 15 robbery of the Huntington National Bank in Lewis Center.

Thomas is believed to have been involved in several other recent robberies in the central Ohio area.

“Thanks to the public’s help and our detectives’ diligence, we were able to locate Thomas a little before noon today in the Delaware Wal-Mart parking lot in a stolen vehicle,” says Delaware County Sheriff Russell Martin. “Unfortunately Thomas and the driver of the vehicle failed to comply with our deputies’ attempts to pull them over, and a brief vehicle chase followed. Both gentleman received what we’ve been told are minor injuries, and fortunately no law enforcement officers or other citizens were injured.”

The other subject has been identified as 25-year-old John M. Thompson, III. Both men are currently being taken into custody at the Delaware County Jail where they will await arraignment on various charges, including robbery, receiving stolen property and failure to comply. In addition, Thompson also has a felony warrant out of Franklin County.

U.S. 23 north and southbound between Cheshire and Peachblow Roads was closed for two hours following this incident.
